Water & Wastewater Asia • January / February 2019 NEWS | 11 Malaysia International Water Convention 2019 to be held in October 2019 MALAYSIA INTERNATIONAL WATER CONVENTION (MIWC) 2019 will be held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre Kuala Lumpur from the 1 st to the 3 rd of October, 2019, a one stop shop for inspiration, i n s i g h t s , s h o w c a s e s , a n d n e w connections. Organised by the organiser behind Water Malaysia, another exhibition, Water Loss Asia, will be returning for its 7 th edition concurrently. These two events are set to bring over 4 , 5 00 wa t e r p ro f e s s i o n a l s , 5 00 delegates and around 250 convening organisations from more than 30 countries together. With water demand in Asia poised to grow by more than half by 2050, up to 3.4 billion people are facing water insecurity. Moreover, in the past 20 years, Asia has incurred half of the estimated global economic cost of water-related disasters. Against this backdrop of rapid growth and urbanisation, it is important to highlight the dire state of water resources, availability and accessibility in the region, brought about collectively by poor infrastructure planning, economic constraints, lack of political will and public participation. It has been estimated that the cost of inaction would mean that more than 3 billion would live in water-stressed conditions in the region. WWA Fluence procures first Aspiral™ contracts with partner ITEST in China FLUENCE CORPORATION LIMITED has signed its first two contracts under its previously announced partnership agreement with ITEST to supply Aspiral™ Smart Packaged wastewater treatment plants along the highway system under ITEST’s scope. Under these contracts, Fluence will supply Aspiral™ Smart Packaged wastewater treatment plants for 13 sites pursuant to these initial contracts. A total of 35 Aspiral™ units will be deployed to handle the varied capacity requirements at the individual sites. This will be Fluence’s first sale of the S1 type, a small-scale Aspiral™ model. The 20-foot S1 units will each be used to treat up to 75 m³/day of wastewater at five separate toll stations in Honghu and Huangshi City. The 40-foot L4 units, which can treat up to 200 m³/day, will be distributed among two parking areas and three service areas along the highway in Honghu and Huangshi and seven service areas along the Hangrui and Huyu highways. Fluence Managing Director and CEO Henry Charrabé said, “These orders are a promising start and confirm our initial volume expectations under our partnership agreement with ITEST.
