The operation of the membranes is in dead- end mode and has the most commonly applied outside- to-in filtration direction. The MICRODYN AQUADYN ® UF is very suitable for high- solids applications, such as surface water with high solids fluctuations, and also for pre-treatment for further membrane processing. The company also has the ULTRADYN™hollow fiber modules, which can be sterilised with hot water (of maximum 98 0 C). Typical applications for the ULTRADYN™ modules are pure water filtration, pharmaceuticals, electronics, etc. MICRODYN RO MICRODYN-NADIR has a l so expanded itsMICRODYNROproduct line to increase its focus on reverse osmosis (RO) in the water industry. The product line was launched in MICRODYN AQUADYN ® 2017 withMICRODYNRO 8040-BW-400 brackish water membrane element. In the first quarter of 2018, the company added 440-square-feet high active area elements, low energy elements and 4” elements to the product range. TURBOCLEAN ® F o r t h e d a i r y , sweeteners,beerandwine, pharmaceutical, proteins and many other process streams, the TurboClean ® elements feature a rugged polypropylene shell, a stronger, more rigid and durable element suited for the most challenging process applications. The TurboClean ® spiral-wound elements are available with all membrane types (RO, UF, nanofiltration and microfiltration) and are manufactured to a precise diameter to reduce bypass flow by 60 per cent or more when compared to conventional full- fit, net-wrapped or caged membrane elements. MICRODYN BIO-CEL ® MBR The MICRODYN BIO-CEL ® MBR self-supporting membrane sheets combine the benefits of traditional hollow fiber, and plate and frame configurations without their inherent disadvantages. The self- supportingmembrane sheet is just 2mm thick, which results in extremely high packing density and very low specific energy consumption. The laminate also offers a self-healing property. I f the membrane i s damaged, the laminate seals the damage with the help of the biomass in the system. Even with severe damage, solids and bacteria will still be rejected by MICRODYN’s BIO-CEL ® MBR module. T h e M I CRODYN BIO-CEL ® configuration is based on flat sheet t e c h n o l o g y, wh i c h is backwashable with crossflow inhibiting clogging. The MBRmodules’ open top and bottom reliably prevent the deposition of sludge and fiber accumulation during the continuous crossflow operating process. The self-supporting structure of the membrane module also enables frame-free installation, thus, eliminating blockages. The company debu t ed a new MICRODYN MBR module, known as the MICRODYN BIO- CEL ® L MBR module, at IFAT in Munich, Germany, this year. The debut coincided with the grand opening of MICRODYN-NADIR’s new state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Austin, Texas (USA), which will produce the BIO-CEL ® MBR product line along with its existing production capacity at MICRODYN- NADIR’s global headquarters in Wiesbaden, Germany.
